A Swim To Remember
they arrived at the beach just moments ago. the pristine, cool breeze blew through the fine hairs on valtameri's fur. She shivered as she heard the decadent and soothing sounds of the ocean water as it crashed up on the rocky shore. Val huffed as her fur gathered in her eyes, limiting her view of the ocean as it played its own song for them to hear. the blue jelly bean dragon turned to her right, blue eyes searching the cove, as she heard the all too familiar bickering of the family. "momma! yang won't stop begging me to go and play in the sand with him." camelia grunted to her mother. a ghost of a smile touched Val's lips as she padded back up the serene beach towards her family. She took her time getting up there, there was no need to rush, they had the whole day to spend here at the cove. Valfelt something hard touch up against her soft paw pads.
her ears flicked; she looked down, her blue eyes narrowing down on something in the sand. She glanced up towards her family, knowing all too well that they'd get upset if she didn't hurry up. deciding to take a moment to see what this unknown item was, zhe dug it up carefully. She gasped when she saw something small move in the sand. the moving item looked like it had a sleek outer shell, nothing like she's ever seen. it made small chirping noises and it dug at the dirt around it. She backed off it, not responding the calls of her children as she continued to stare at the item -now defined as a creature- moved about.
the creature was a turtle. She had no idea what species of turtle, but it was most defiantly a turtle. She knew from her sister's experience and her own that she should never touch a turtle.
She smiled and gently moved some sand over the turtle, to hide him incase it wasn't ready to come out. She turned and ran back up the shore-line towards her waiting family. She saw that they were setting up for a picnic at the beach. it was a beautiful, clear, and sunny day to go to the beach for a picnic. although she didn't really know about it. helping her family, she moved the heavy luggage down the beach. before she had an idea. sitting on the suitcase, she pushed off with her hind-paws, her claws digging in the sand for momentum, and she pushed off. sliding down the slope. She giggled all the way to the bottom, and once the ride was over, she hopped off, stood up, and brushed herself off. Sprout gave her a concerned look, but Val didn't care. it was more fun moving it this way rather than lugging it down.
but her little sport was done before it started, and she moved off to find something else to do. walking away from her family, she moved down the beach and glanced out of the corner of her eye when he saw something glimmer out of the corner of her eye. "i'm going down to the water" val called from her place back at the beachfront. She heard an approving squeal of laughter from Camelia and Yang-Yang, and saw a nod of approval from Sprout. as Val stepped off towards the water's edge. She stepped in, shivering once more as she felt the cold water lap at her fur, almost beckoning for her to come in. water hadn't been his greatest friend when she was younger, but she wasn't afraid of it any longer. h
She placed both paws into the chilling and frigid water and pushed off, diving in. She yelped, once the water touched her fur, the water seemed to lap at her fur.
Her body going cold, the heat being sucked out of her as the water seemed to lick up the warmth that "bled" from her body. She huffed and swamp out into the depths of the ocean, trying to fight the cold, and the tide itself. She remembered her sister telling her never to fight the tide. She relaxed as the tide continued to pull her. Serene calmness gripped her heart and before she knew it, she went under. it was for a short time, but she couldn't help but to cough on the salty ocean water. Her head broke the surface just before another wave crashed into her face. She laughed, the water seemed to want her to play awhile. She thought she could hear the calls from her family. calling her name, calling for her. She went under and opened her eyes. the water seemed blurry, but it soon cleared. She glanced down and saw the fish, and the reef.
the reef was a beautiful sight to behold. She never saw anything like it. She felt himself push up, and she began to swim, swim up towards the surface. something knocked into her and pushed her down again, a baby whale. She gasped and calmly tried to swim to the surface. but the whale wanted to play. it seemed to realize she wanted to go up and breathe and swam under her, making clicking sounds as it moved. it pushed Val's body up to the surface, and towards the shore. She was tangled in seaweed, and a bottle was intertwined in the mess as well. She pulled himself back to shore and intwo the coastline. Laughing, she looked back out to the water and smiled. the whale was playing in the water. "What a cutie'' she muttered as she looked towards her family running down the coast. toward her. Sprout looked worried, the children excited. She new she'd be asked questions but she wanted to tell about what she found.
